about

In 1995 Guided by Voices released their masterpiece Alien Lanes—28 infectious tunes clocking in at under 42 minutes and all recorded at home on 4-track recorders with a recording budget of $10 (excluding the cost of beer according to legend). I always wanted to imagine what this record might have sounded like if their equipment was a little nicer, so I took it as a challenge to completely cover it front to back (even the song “Hit” which hasn’t aged well). Complete with faux British accents as on the original…similar to performing Shakespeare I think. Released free to share my interpretation of one of my favorite albums.

Please purchase the original if you enjoy it. It was recently re-released on Vinyl by Matador.
